The camera was new in box as were all of the accessories. Everything promised in the description was included too. I saw a few reviews that mentioned their cameras looked used but this was not the case with my camera. All of the lenses fit the camera well and all of the lens caps were intact and were easily removed and reattached to the lenses.
Because I'm a beginner with this type of camera I did take the suggestions of others and purchased the "Dummies" book that explains this camera. There is an instruction book included but the book goes into more detail and is easier, for me anyway, to understand.
I also noticed some reviews weren't happy with the camera bag. I think it's more than adequate and it holds everything I want it to hold.
I'm not going to go into detail about every single accessory in the package because others have already done so and have done it better than I could. I bought this camera for personal use and not because I want to start a professional photography career. Photography is a hobby and hopefully this will expand what I am able to do. One thing I did like is the camera is light and comes with a strap to use when taking pictures. In the past I've used 35mm cameras that were heavy and difficult to hold so this makes a big difference for me. This set does include a monopod and a spider tripod. I want to use the 500mm telephoto lens to view, and photograph, the night sky so I did buy a larger tripod since the camera does get heavy when this lens is attached. Plus it keeps the camera stable.
I'm really happy with this bundle and everything that was included. I was like a kid at Christmas when I opened it up and can't wait to use everything. I really believe this camera is going to be a great asset when I go on vacation later this summer.
I love this camera. I worked as a freelance photography way back in the year 2000 and had a 4MP Olympus E10 that cost $1600 for the camera (and the equipped lens was not removable). So the price for this setup and gear that comes with it is just ideal. If you are looking for your first camera and are debating on buying the Rebel T7 or the Rebel T5 as I was...Spend the extra money for the T7. The T7 has a metal tripod mount. The T5 has a plastic tripod mount. and you will want a tripod, and you will not want a plastic threads for the tripod mount, so, go with the T7. The difference in quality and features far outweighs the difference in price.
The monopod that comes with this kit is nice to have, but for that 500mm lens, you will want to eventually get a good sturdy tripod. AND you will want the threads on the bottom of the camera to be metal. I originally just wanted a camera to photograph my drawings and artwork for uploading online, but this camera made me fall in love with photography again. 58mm lens is plenty. I used 62mm before which is why I delayed my replacement because I didn't want to spent thousands on the accessories, but this camera kit had everything that I wanted. Wonderful photos.
The T7 also allows you to remote control your camera with your phone, where the T5 does not. (Also the T5 does not support .raw format) I 100% would recommend this camera for intermediate photographers as well as beginners looking to become serious.
The things I do not like about this kit: The camera bag is lacking, it doesn't have enough room to hold all of the accessories. I already had a larger camera bag, so was not an issue for me to swap over, but I recommend a larger bag. I also do not like that the bag included does not have a zip-closure as well as the latch. The memory card is only 32 GB, which is ok, but if you are out and about, you'll want more memory, especially taking .RAW format which are about 10-20MB each. I bought 2 more cards that are 128 GB ea., so... I would recommend also buying additional memory. Also, the camera comes with a battery and charger, but it would be nice to have had 2 batteries included. I purchased 2 more batteries with a dual charger, if you are outdoors photographing nature, you'll not be wanting to run out of batteries after a 45 minute hike up a mountain.
As far as action-rapid frame photography, which is the difference between the Rebel T7 and T7i, this is not the type of photography I do, so I don't have comment on that, but I am absolutely delighted with this camera and this kit. With the exception of the camera bag. Also I just purchased a set of macro lenses and a 2x teleconverter to make that 500mm lens into a 1000mm lens, accessories for the 58mm lens will not break you. This is my new favorite camera I have ever owned and the kit has every accessory you need. Worth every penny.
